Deal Triathlon 2007

On a bitterly cold May day a number of our youngsters braved the wind and rain to take part in the Deal Triathlon. The day was extremely long for spectators and athletes alike – thank goodness for the tea and coffee stand and the warmth of the swimming pool and hall.

Sky was up first getting into 2^nd place after the swim and pulling into 1^st place after a strong bike ride. Unfortunately, she suffered and excruciating stitch on the first lap of the run and she could only continue doubled up. Well done for keeping going and still gaining 2^nd place. Harriet and Sophie had their own little battle behind Katie, who put in an impressive performance. Harriet had a minor fall in the bike section but got up, dusted herself down and carried on to finish just ahead of Sophie.

Lewis showed well in the T2 boys’ race once we managed to prise him out of the blanket he was wrapped in. He again showed his strength on the bike and gained a good place keeping his IRC prospects alive.

The T3 boys were Sam and Jack against some very good competition, Jack having a strong swim, Sam a brilliant bike section and both having a strong run. Both maintain their push for 1^st and 2^nd place in the London Series.
